Yoga for Trauma: How Yoga Can Help Us Heal
Trauma impacts individuals and communities in many ways, and is not limited to veterans of war or survivors of natural disasters. In fact, relational challenges, loss, and the pace our daily lives can contribute to overwhelming stress that when not addressed, can contribute to symptoms of PTSD. When we recognize these symptoms and address them with yoga and other specialized interventions, we take steps toward being our healthiest and most whole selves.
Coping with stress and recovering from trauma - whether in childhood or in recent life - is all about building skills and a resilient sense of self navigating through the difficult emotions related to stressful events. You may find is surprising that cultivating joy is a much a solution as it is a goal of trauma treatment, and that the healing work you do with others can bring a profound a parallel sense of peace.
