Is this a certification? 

Yes. As a Y4T student you have an option to submit all of your work at the end of the program to earn your certificate. Mental Health Professionals can access 8 hours of CE credit after completing an additional exam at the conclusion of the program and yoga teachers can also get up to 32 hours of continuing education credit with Yoga Alliance.

I'm already trained in yoga (or trauma) is this program for me? 

This is an advanced training, so most students come in with experience in either mental health or yoga, and some come to the program with both. This curriculum gives you the foundations of each field and draws clear connections to help you understand, communicate and apply your work in yoga & trauma recovery in a seamless way. So yes, if you have experience, the program will help you clarify the connection across the two fields and amplify your work.

I'm not a yoga teacher or therapist, can I still join?

Yes. We welcome people working in a variety of wellness backgrounds into this community.

What if I'm focused on my own personal healing?

Many people report that this program has a profound personal impact on them - whether on not they enroll with that intention. If you are just at the beginning of your trauma recovery and feel you have little support, we recommend getting your support team together as a first step. Once you have that in place, you're welcome to apply and we'll let you know if the program seems like a good fit based on your goals and needs.

What do I get when I finish?

Once you complete the program you receive a PDF certificate of completion recognizing your 32 hours devoted to the training.

Does the course count for CEs for yoga teachers?

Yes. Y4T qualifies for 32 hours of CE credit for Yoga Alliance (US and Canada). The Center for Yoga and Trauma Recovery is a CYA Certified Continuing Education Provider. Mental Health Professionals can also access 8 hours of CE credit after completing an additional exam at the conclusion of the program.

How long does the training last?

This course requires an 8-week commitment, and all students have 12 weeks to complete the assigned material and 6 months access to the materials. You can request an extension if it is needed. Graduates can also repeat the course with a future cohort at no extra cost.

How and when do I receive content?

Once you enroll and the program begins, you will receive lecture content on Mondays, followed by a weekly yoga practice and assigned reading and reflections each Wednesday. You will need 4-6 hours per week to complete course lectures, yoga practices, assignments and readings.

Do I have to join anything live?

All course materials are recorded so that you can access them anytime. Support calls are live and attendance is highly encouraged, but is not required for certification.

What does the course cover?

Each of the weeks addresses a single theme, and each week builds from the previous:

  • Week 2: Understanding Trauma
  • Week 3: Somatic Psychotherapy and The Nervous System
  • Week 4: Fundamentals of Yoga Philosophy and Practice
  • Week 5: Principles of Trauma Informed Yoga (TIY)
  • Week 6: Advanced Principles
  • Week 7: Research Review
  • Week 8: Practicum

Is there any ongoing support?

We have a private Facebook group for Y4T students only, as well as access to Y4T Bonus content with special guests and scheduled live Community Support Calls for each cohort.

How long do I have to complete the training?

Once you enroll, you have 12 weeks to complete the training program for certification. This gives you time to complete the 8 weeks of material, with some wiggle room. If you need an extension for any reason, there is a simple form for you to complete to request one.

What do I have to complete to graduate?

All readings and assigned course reflections are required to earn your certificate of completion and to qualify for CEUs.

Is there a payment plan available?

Yes, there is a monthly payment plan available for the 8-week program.
